Special Recognitions

Atkinson Youth Services School has received support from the community and we would like to thank those groups and individual people that have helped us to create new programs, improve our facilities and vehicles, and donated to our school, which allows us to continue to offer a succesful, diverse program to our students.

Stepping stones in our garden that the Optimist Club has helped us create.
Students in the summer gardening elective created and painted these and placed them throughout the garden
Sacramento Dojos donated and installed a new basketball backboard and hoop for our sports program
We have purchased and earned new books through the Scholastic Book Club
Park tables and view of the garden that the Optmist Club helped fund

We have had many wonderful supporters over the years that it would be hard to mention them all. We would still like to mention a few of the of our generous groups and individuals that have helped us revitalize the program and services we offer.

 

Paul Robins ran 92.5 miles to fundraise and purchase us five brand new Dodge Sprinter Vans, which we use for our transportation of students. This event was sponsored by many Sacramento businesses and families such as; Raley's and Bel Air, TNT Fireworks, River City Bank and many others. Thank you for all of your support!

 

Sacramento WATSU group, formerely known as the Dojos, has worked with us continuosly since June 2010 to improve our school campus. They have replaced windows, painted the classrooms, office areas, and library. They repaired our fence, siding, doors, and more. They have done so much for us and have continued to support our school program and the children we work with.

They hosted a Holiday party for our school, December 17, 2010, December 2011 and, December 2012 brought presents, Santa, and games. We had a wonderful time and the kids are so thankful.

 

Sacramento Optimist Club has helped us through fundraising events such as a golfathon and poker night. We have used the funds to create our fruit and vegetable garden, purchase new park tables and patio sets and more to enhance our school program. They have also replaced our front gate, repaired our roof, and replaced multiple windows. Thank you for all that your members have done for our school!

 

Sunrise Community Church has bought book sets for the school library. They also came out with a group of volunteers and painted our school fence along the driveway. They brought presents for our Elentary and Primary grade students in December. Thank you so much!

 

Colleen Calia has worked with the Sunrise Community Church and has also volunteered to work with the agency during our school volunteer days to refresh our campus. Thank you Colleen for your continued support of our program!

 

Kiwanis Club has sponsored our Boy Scouts of America after school program.

 

Barbara Ross has donated time through leadership of the Boy Scouts of America after school program. She has also donated supplies for the after school activities.

 

Lynn Rubia has been a mentor teacher to our staff. She has also brought donations to the children and activities, decorations, and school supplies to the school. Thank you Ms. Rubia for all the support over the years.

 

Debi Morello has donated arts and crafts for the art program and classroom activities.  She has also given us wonderful decorations for the holidays. Thank you to the Morello family for your continued support!


Jeanny Rapp has donated her time and talent to teaching the students of AYS to sew, knit, crochet, and use sewing machines. The students have designed and created projects such as pillows, stuff animals, and pot holders. Thank you for your time and sharing your special talents with the students and making learning fun!
